6 Must Care Things for Newborn Babies

Preparations for the new arrival in the family are a must for parents. They need to ensure that whatever is required for the care of the baby needs to be bought. The focus has to be what the baby needs in the first weeks at home and that of course is not much. The need for organic baby skin products is there.

Parents while visiting the baby gear store, feel that they need to buy everything under the sun! Parents want to purchase the best baby products skincare.

Clothing and Layette

Parents like to show off their baby by dressing up him or her well, in cute outfits to show the little one-off, the baby does not need anything fancy in the first few weeks, so sticking to simple, plain, budget-friendly clothing is fine.

It is better to avoid purchasing too many newborn clothing items as the baby will outgrow them at lightning speeds. Also, outfits have to be bought often as babies mess them up quickly.

Diapers

Diapers are basics. Parents need to choose the best kind of diaper for the baby. Newborns may need 8 to 10 diapers a day. It is important to have a maximum number of diapers on hand.

Bath Items

For the first week or two, until the baby’s umbilical cord falls off, doctors usually recommend giving the baby a sponge bath. Then, parents need not bathe the baby daily—three times a week or so is sufficient.

Bathing the baby too often can dry out or irritate the baby’s skin. In between changing diapers, there will be opportunities for “spot cleaning” in-between baths.

Grooming/First Aid

Initially to start with there is no need to stock the cabinets with a ton of baby grooming products or a full-fledged first aid kit. Parents have to trim the baby’s nails as they grow very fast. The baby’s temperature has to be taken also and tissues to clean their noses.

What is required?

  • Baby nail clippers
  • Digital thermometer
  • Medicine dropper
  • Bulb syringe and nasal aspirator

Purchasing baby pain relief medicine can be done a bit later as it is not recommended for newborns until after 3-6 months of age, much depending on the medicine as well as the doctor’s recommendations.

Bedding and Sleep Needs

A newborn crib, cradle, bassinet or perhaps a co-sleeper need to be purchased so that the baby can sleep in the same room. Also, bumpers, blankets, pillows, and soft toys are not recommended in baby beds off late.

Although the AAP does not recommend sharing a bed with the baby, most breastfeeding mothers tend to sleep with their baby in their bed at some point.

Feeding Supplies

In case a mother is breastfeeding it is good to consult a good lactation consultant or seek help from a breastfeeding support group.

In the case of formula feeding, it is better to discuss formula brands as well as types with the doctor as well as how much formula to have on hand when a person brings the baby home.

What is needed?

  • burp cloths
  •  Feeding bottle
  • A bottle brush.
  • A variety of bottle nipples in different sizes
  • Breastfeeding pillow, nursing pads, as well as nipple cream
  • Breast pump
  • Bottlebrush
  • Bottle washing dishwasher basket
  • Nursing pads and nipple cream
  • Breast pump in case you need to pump for your newborn.

Parents on a budget and of course overwhelmed parents have much to purchase for the newborn. Baby needs to be comfortable, well-fed and has everything they need. Organic baby skin products are very good for a newborn.
